Caution is needed when using this trimmer as the electrical cord can very easily get cut during the trimming process.

The cordless hedge trimmer is also an electrical trimmer but does not use a cord. The cordless hedge trimmer is powered by a rechargeable battery. Although these cordless trimmers are very quiet they are not as powerful as the electric trimmers and can be inconvenient as they need to be charged every hour or so. This type of trimmer is not recommended for trimming large hedges or bushes.

The gas powered hedge trimmer is the most powerful trimmer you can buy. Regular gasoline is used to power these hedge trimmers. One drawback of the gas powered hedge trimmer is that repairs can be costly and gasoline can be expensive. This type of trimmer is used to cut back hedges or bushes with large branches and stems. Frequent filling of the gas tank is often necessary to keep the trimmer running.

Long reach hedge trimmers are mainly used for trimming and pruning taller hedges or bushes. The long reach trimmers eliminate the need to climb ladders and other equipment. Long reach hedge trimmers use electrical power or petroleum. The units are made up of a long pole, a motor and blades. These trimmers allow you to reach hard to reach places because its tilted head can be adjusted to just about any angle that you want. A shoulder strap comes with these trimmers allowing you the freedom to work for longer time periods.

Which ever type of hedge trimmer you choose they are a necessary tool for any home owner or gardener.
